Scorers Markovic and Zakaric after the Zemun cup game

Partizan won Zemun 2-0 with second half goals from Markovic and Zakaric to qualify for National Cup last 8 stage. We spoke to young Partizan centre-back  Svetozar Markovic after the game:

– Quite a tough game but that`s what we expected from Zemun. We had opportunities and possession in the first half but lacked finishing touch. After the break we looked good until we scored but we retreated back afterwards and that`s not what we should do. All in all, we can be pleased as we won and qualified for cup quarterfinals, said Markovic.

You scored after a rehearsed  set-piece from Pantic and Jankovic.

– We rehearse many build-up`s during training sessions but the very goal I scored was not part of it. Pantic and Jankovic played it well Jankovic crossed it into the 6-yard box and I was just at the right place at the right time.

It`s Napredak home on Saturday, SSL round 13 game.

– We have a streak of tough games over the next 10 days, including midweek league fixture. Napredak is quite uncomfortable opponent and it will be a serious battle on the home ground. We are getting ready for Napredak game and all our thoughts are on it.

Goran Zakaric doubled Partizan lead late in the game:

– First half was quite firm both ways. We had some opportunities but failed to score. We were more aggressive after the break and scored early in the second half. Zemun had a fair share of opportunities too but we were lucky not to see them score. We did score late in the game and prevented Zemun from possibly shocking us. They proved very uncomfortable opponent but all that matters is that we are in quarterfinals of National Cup now, said Zakaric.
