Partizan forward Ricardo Gomes scored a brace inside 15 minutes of the game against Proleter to mark his return to the club in a best possible way.
“This is like a dream for me, to be back here. It can`t get better than this. It was important to start the game strong and we scored early. It was raining all the way and it got so waterlogged it was impossible to play. It`s good we scored four goals early, we had no pressure later on in the game”, said Ricardo.
Another returnee, Danilo Pantic, assisted to Ricardo for a Partizan opener.
“He is a great player. I know he`s looking for me whenever he`s in possession of a ball. All I need to score is to have good movements. I know the ball will be where it should as Pantic has that quality. I have to fully use his services”.
It was also special to score in front of large contingent of away fans.
“For us players, games without fans are like friendlies. This is football, this is what we live and dream for. It`s special playing in front of our fans, they support us and push us forward. We are better when they are around”, said 29-year-old forward.
Partizan faces DAC Dunajska Streda at home on 22nd of July as part of Conference League round 2 fixtures.
“We all expect a lot from that competition. We start qualifiers at home, in front of our fans. We have to start strong and make sure we achieve good result. We can think about the next game afterwards”.
Besides European ambitions, Partizan is capable of battling for domestic trophies, Ricardo believes:
“I think we have a team this season able to battle for the top in all competitons. This is just the beginning, we have to keep this pace. It`s not easy, Serbian League is strong but we`ll move forward step by step”.
