Ricardo Gomes back in Partizan!

Cape Verdean forward Ricardo Gomes returned to Partizan officially, signing a new deal with the club. Back in 2018/19 season, in his first spell with Partizan, 29-year-old netted 26 goals in all competitions, making him joint-best foreign goalscorer in club`s history.

Ricardo Gomes on his return to Partizan:

“I want to thank club president, Ivica Iliev also and all the Partizan staff for the opportunity to be back here, to continue the story we started three years ago and I`m happy to be here”.

“I`m here for the good project, a new Partizan team and yes, I`m here to fight in all competitions Partizan is in”.

“First time I was here I felt good, I feel at home here. It was only for one year but now I have this opportunity again, in a club I feel good playing at. I like the city, everything”, said Ricardo Gomes.

Partizan official and former sports director Ivica Iliev spoke about Ricardo arrival upon signing:

“It`s a great day for Partizan fans and all of us. We said  before top forward is coming and I don`t think we could get better than Ricardo. We know he is a top Partizan goalscorer in one season regarding foreign players in club`s history and that says all about his quality and our expectations”.

“When I decided to bring Ricardo in three years ago, our current head coach Stanojevic was working in Saudi Arabia and he wanted him at the same time as Partizan did. But, he backed off as a true Partizan fan and gentleman when he learned we are after Ricardo”.

“It`s clear Ricardo is the best choice as both me and Stanojevic wanted him back then and now. If we look at the last season, we really missed top-class attacker”.

“I`d also like to say that Ricardo showed great love for Partizan. He said to me over the phone “I`m coming home”. It took us around 15 to 20 days to complete the transfer as his Saudi club had a lucrative offer but Ricardo rejected it as he wanted to come here, bringing everyone around into disbelief. Quite unreal decision it was, in today`s football world”.

“Ricardo stayed true to his ideas and stance and I can say he insisted to join us. Love for the club prevailed and I`m proud and happy to welcome Ricardo back and to wish him the same number of goals as in his first spell, at least”, said Ivica Iliev.
