26-year-old Dutch winger/striker Queensy Menig signed a three-year deal with Partizan today. Former Ajax academy graduate signed to Partizan from Twente.
Queensy Menig grew up next to the Ajax ground and joined their youths at the age of 12, making his Ajax debut as a 19-year-old, managing one goal and assist over a total of 5 appearances for his home club.
Number of loan spells followed before Menig signed for Twente where he made 46 apps and scored 9 goals over a two-year spell.
Menig picked Partizan shirt number 9.
Partizan executive Ivica Iliev said the following during Queensy Menig`s promotion:
-Partizan is a big club and we have a duty to do everything in our power to make it bigger, to add more quality and success and I believe we are on the right path. I promised great names in this transfer window and here we are now. We do our work with courage and in a calm fashion, with lots of faith and skills involved. We don`t bend under pressure from public and press. As a result, we have a great start of the season, transfer window included. We signed number of players early in the transfer window to have an ideal team to see as through European qualifiers and early domestic season and, finally, once we reached Conference League group stage, we realized we need more quality and I`m honoured to present our latest signing, our priority signing over the past two months, Queensy Menig.
Queensy Menig upon signing:
-I`m happy to be here. It was a long journey to make everything right but the most important thing is that I`m here now and ready to start. It`s a new adventure for me in my career, I spent two years at Twente and they gave me a lot as I had a difficult period before moving there. After time spent there, now I have a chance for a new step forward in my career and this is what Partizan is giving me. So now, I want to give 100% for this club and we`ll see what going to happen in the future.
I know Partizan is a big club and I know there are two big clubs here, two big grounds less than one kilometer from each other. Few Dutch people I know are familiar with Serbia and I spoke to Zivkovic who signed for Crvena Zvezda two days ago. Partizan is number one now, winning six out of six so far in the league with 22-1 goal difference and won Conference League group stage after three qualifying rounds. I`ve seen our group and I think it`s possible to go through to the next stage of the competition. This is what I know so far. I know this is a great city. I had a dinner with my agent and my family yesterday. I`m here with my brother, girlfriend and mother, myself included (laughs).
I had a few options but at the end of the day Partizan gave me the best feeling. I spoke with director and the coach and the best feeling was there.
Normally, I want shirt number 11 `cause I like to play on the left wing but in the youth academy I was always number 9, I was a striker, so it`s number 9 for me.
I can play on the left or right wing, second striker but if I had to choose one, it`s left wing.
