Partizan players enjoyed in a day-off on Sunday and we spoke to forward Ognjen Ozegovic ahead of Monday afternoon training session. This weekend away to Backa, Ozegovic won a penalty-kick early in the game and scored from the spot himself.
– It`s good for any team when you score early in the game as your opponent has to go forward and you get more space for scoring opportunities. Our early goal against Backa meant a lot as we were not under tension later on. But, we were still fully focused as we needed to make sure we don`t concede and score more goals to secure a win. We had more opportunities but we failed convert them – Djerlek and myself in particular. I`d say this misses came as a result of great desire to score, says Ozegovic.
Out of great desire to make a save, Backa keeper Jevric injured himself early in the game.
– I`m really gutted for him as such things can happen to any one of us. Football is a merciless game and when you have a great desire to do the best for your team, sometimes you don`t think about consequences. As a result, we had many injured players in the past, myself included. It`s simply part of the package. On behalf of myself and my teammates, I wish Jevric a quick recovery.
There`s one more SSL round before play-off stage.
– Boss constantly warns us to keep it calm, not to rush things, to focus on each new game solely. Now we play against Borac at home and they will surely be motivated at our ground. We need Tosic back and other injured players for everything that awaits us.
