After the Conference League play-off stage first leg 2-1 defeat to Santa Clara, we spoke to Partizan General Director Milos Vazura.
“Santa Clara are tough opponents, we knew that even before we played Sochi. I think we can fancy our chances at home in front of packed stands. This marginal defeat makes me believe we can through to the group stage. We were a bit nervous from the start but I think we will look different in Belgrade. Injuries changed our plans a bit, Zdjelar`s two days ago and Pantic`s week ago. I expect better result and support from our fans in Belgrade. We can do everything with packed stands behind us”, said Milos Vazura.
This 2-1 defeat is far from ideal but allows Partizan to get back into the tie with a single goal.
“That`s right, this result is active one. This was just the first half and second one is at home, in front of our fans who will be our 12th player. I expect positive news in Belgrade and I believe in this team. It didn`t look good today but we all know players and coaching staff did their best. We keep being positive and I think it will all be much better in Belgrade”.
Were you surprised by the performance of Santa Clara?
“No, Stanojevic informed us about their qualities. We knew it was going to be tough and heavy here and now we know even more about Santa Clara”.
Can we expect Zdjelar to be back for the return leg and how`s Panticv doing regarding his recovery?
“Whoever recovers, that`s going to be good. Most importantly, we need packed stands. I invite all our supporters to come down next week as we really need their support now”, said Milos Vazura.
