31-year-old Milan Smiljanic is back in Partizan for his third spell with the club. He signed a two-year deal and picked a jersey number 99.
After his first 11-year spell with Partizan, this club`s academy graduate moved to Espanyol but returned to his home club in 2010 and spent another three years at Partizan. In total, Smiljanic made 214 Partizan apps and scored 8 goals, winning 4 league titles and one national cup.
Partizan Sports Director Ivica Iliev on signing Milan Smiljanic :
– Smiljanic`s first two spells with Partizan were quite a success and I hope for more of the same. As soon as we were short of one defensive midfielder we reacted and signed Smiljanic. He was a logical choice as Partizan kid and someone who knows all about the club. We need him to be of help to our gaffer on the pitch, in the dressing room, as he`s got the experience needed.
He can add stability to our team and lead the team in big games. I played with him back in season 2010-11 when we played CL and won domestic double and he was at his best in tactically demanding matches. Smiljanic is a player you can trust in and when he is on fire he can bring a lot to us.
Milan Smiljanic upon signing :
– I was surprised when I got a call from Iliev, I was kind of a shaking really. This club is above all of us, you can`t turn the offer to play here. I`m born here and hundred percent aware what Partizan is. This is the only club I can give my hundred percent ability and more. I`m overwhelmed to be back here.
This is my third spell with the club and I want to show I`m ready to help Partizan. I was always at service for my home club.
