Partizan boss Zoran Mirkovic expected tough EL round 3 qualifier return leg against young and playful Nordsjaelland side and he was right by all means. Partizan did win 3-2 (5-3 on aggregate) but Danes shocked Partizan with early lead that was cancelled by goals from NR Miletic, Jankovic and Markovic before half-time whistle. Nordsjaelland scored another to make it 3-2, enough for a nervy finish of the game. We spoke to one of the Partizan scorers Marko Jankovic after the game:
-We knew it was going to be hard against one uncomfortable side with clear aims. They are young team with trademark playing style and they never change it, win or lose. Most of them will have great careers. They were not in awe of first leg result, they attacked from the go instead, looking to shock us and gain advantage. We were back in the game soon after we conceded and we deserve praise as a team for coming back into the game with style, said Jankovic.
You seem resurrected playing-wise with the arrival of new boss?
– Mirkovic added fresh energy. I like his and his associates working style. I know Mirkovic for a long time now as he worked as coaching assistant at Montenegro national team. I assisted in Denmark and I added two assists and a goal in this one. It means a lot me confidence-wise and I really wanted to show I can still play some good football.
boss? Partizan is home to Besiktas next Thursday as part of EL play-off fixtures.
– Besiktas in one serious opponent. Draw itself had no mercy on us but we can see now that Besiktas can be vulnerable. Even the best teams can go down in important games and we played so many such matches over the years. It`s on us to be brave and clever, do our best and try to achieve big things.
