After being second-choice keeper for a few months, Aleksandar Popovic is back between the posts. He spoke to Partizan website on his return to the starting line-up and upcoming ECL reverse leg away to Hamrun.
“It was a bit unusual for me, as I didn`t play competitive home game since TSC match and I think it was back in April. I`m used to pressure and responsibility here so I didn`t feel a burden upon returning between the posts. I`ll try to pick my form up, it`s all about continuity”, said 22-year old shotstopper.
Partizan won Hamrun 4-1 in a first leg.
“We must not sit back and relax although the first leg result is quite good for us. We are aware of everything and we`ll go to Malta to finish the job and qualify for the ECL group stage. We should play as if first leg result was 0-0, not 4-1, we shouldn`t have any problems if we have such attitude. We have more quality and we proved it in Belgrade”.
New boss Gordan Petric wants no pressure on his players.
“He tells us every day how we have a full support from him, how we should relax and do what we do best – play football. It means a lot to every player individually”, said Popovic.
