Partizan played a total of 56 official games in 2021, winning 46 and drawing and losing 5 each.
Last six months of the year were more eventful with 12 European games played and next stage of UEFA ECL secured. Domestically, Partizan is top of the league and in the last 8 of Serbian Cup.
“It was a great half-season and we have to be pleased. We achieved everything it was expected from us – we are top of the table and continue with our European quest. Many games were played and it was quite strenuous for players, lots of flights involved as well. Any sleepless night is tough on players with no enough time for recovery when you have a next game within a day or two. Nonetheless, that`s what pro football is about and I would like us to have more such flights in the future as it would mean that we keep playing in Europe”, said Igor Duljaj, FK Partizan assistant coach.
He also underlined how important is to have as much info as possible on your opponents in such congested fixture list.
“It`s a 90-minute game but to get ready for it you need a lot of work from all members of coaching staff. We try to gain as much info as we can on all our opponents, to watch three of four games of theirs, while boss Stanojevic does even more than that. When I was a player, there was less people involved in the coaching team, you didn`t even have a fitness coach. It`s easier for players to advance now compared to 20 years ago”.
Partizan squad will be back in training on 12th of January.
“There`ll be a lot of challenges in 2022. We are top of the league and it`s always tougher when someone is chasing you on the standings, there`s huge pressure. But, that`s all normal when you`re at Partizan. Our aim is to remain top of the pile and we have enough time to get ready for everything 2022 throws at us”, said Igor Duljaj.
