After a two-week UEFA competitions break, Partizan is back in action tomorrow hosting Videoton as part of EL play-off first leg qualifiers, 9pm kick-off CET with live coverage from Arena Sport TV and RTS1. Due to UEFA suspension, there`ll be no fans at Partizan ground tomorrow.
In European competitions, Partizan and Videoton previously met in 1984 – for a UEFA Cup quarter-finals tie that Videoton won 5-2 agg. Hungarians beat Partizan 5-0 in the first leg with our club winning the reverse leg 2-0.
Partizan and Videoton also met in a two friendlies: 2-2 draw in Slovenska Bistrica during Summer preps 2012 and November 2016 in Felcsut when Videoton won 1-0.
Coach Miroslav Djukic ahead of Videoton game:
– We are all aware this is extremely important game for Partizan. Europa League group stage means a lot to us and we`ll do everything possible to reach it. There and then, we can see where we stand against the rest of the Europe and our players will have an opportunity to grow as players.
My mentality doesn`t allow me to think about being defeated. My team is picking up form with each new day and they gradually get the grip of how the things should work out playing-wise here. Therefore, I don`t even think about possibility of Partizan being eliminated.
We play attacking football but we don`t rush things. My Partizan needs to be brave and to go for it. I want hard workers in the attack, I want them to help defenders. I want left and right-backs who charge down the flank…It`s total football – everyone going forward and everyone going back.
Centre-back Bojan Ostojic:
– We know who is in charge of Videoton and we are talking about successful former Partizan boss. It will not be easy but we prepared for this game and it`s on us to work it out on the pitch. Good result is any win without a goal conceded.
