Partizan won third-tier Trayal 3-0 in a Serbian Cup last 32 one-legged tie with brace from Menig and first Partizan goal from Zivkovic. We spoke to Partizan boss Aleksandar Stanojevic after the game.
“We are pleased with this win. Boys entered the game in a serious fashion and after two days of tough training. Pitch surface was also tough to play on. I think we controlled the game”.
Stanojevic was happy to see Menig and Zivkovic getting onto the scoresheet.
“Of course I`m happy. It was hard trying to break Trayal`s defensive lines, they were quite organized at the back but we attacked from all angles. Markovic did well to connect Jojic and Pantic for them to assist to Menig for two opening goals”.
Fixture list is congested but Stanojevic underlines his charges are reafdy for it.
“We prepared for this and I`m glad we have such fixture list, two games a week. We are getting ready for it, step by step”.
One of the Partizan young guns Lazar Pavlovic came on for Menig on the hour.
“He got a bit of opportunity to play. It`s up to him how much he`ll play in the future”, said Stanojevic.
Queensy Menig scored a brace and we spoke to Partizan winger too after the game.
“It was tough to play on such pitch surface and the weather was bad too. Trayal didn`t allow us much space to develop our play. Over the first twenty minutes we couldn`t break their defensive lines, we were unable to find unmarked player to pass the ball to. However, our fighting spirit paid off and after fine through balls from Markovic and assists from Jojic and Pantic I scored a brace and that means a lot to me confidence-wise.
This month is quite tough for us as we have number of important domestic and European games to play. We have to win them all in domestic league to achieve our target, to remain top of the pile before the winter break. As for Europe, we are close to qualify for the next round and we shouldn`t lose it all now although we have strong opponent in the shape of Gent now. However you look at it, every game is life.
We work hard, our roster is full of good players. Let`s see how far we can go”, said Menig.
