Young Partizan keeper Aleksandar Popovic presented us with another fine European performance, despite shoulder pain he suffered early in the second half followed by another knock later on.
“First knock happened as I was punching the ball out of the box. The second one happened when Sochi player hit straight at me and I felt sharp pain. For now on, it`s only painful, we`ll see how it is when it cools down. We`ll do therapies and it will be alright”, said Popovic.
21-year-old shotstopper talked about Sochi penalty-kick decision as well.
“It was never a penalty. But, thank God, we bounced back. Referees can make mistakes. Unfortunately, it was a decision against us this time around. Noboa mostly shots penalty-kicks to the right but he is good and experienced player and he waited long enough before he took his shot. I decided to go to the right and didn`t have luck this time around.
My teammates were great. Opportunities were scarce but we have an active result and we`ll look to win in Belgrade. I`d like to invite our fans to come in numbers to support us and I`m sure we`ll qualify for the play-off round”.
