A chat with Dejan Georgijevic

Short of players away on international duty, Partizan squad played a test game involving remaining players joined by some Partizan youngsters added to the team during international break.

Team I: Popovic, Vulicevic, Ostojic, Smiljkovic, NG Miletic, Zdjelar, Jankovic, Ilic, L Pavlovic, Stevanovic, Stanojlovic. Team II: Kljajic, Radmanovac, Valiente, Vjestica, Urosevic, Smiljanic, Tosic, Djerlek, Sehapi, Ivanovic, Georgijevic.

Team II won 2-1 with goals from Georgijevic and Smijanic while Zdjelar scored for Team I.

We spoke to Partizan winter signing Dejan Georgijevic after the game:

-It very important for any forward to score goals. Goals are good for confidence and they are expected from us anyway, said Georgijevic.

It`s nice when you score but I expect my goals in the league, I have faith in me. I only played two matches so far but there`s lots of important matches ahead of us and I hope I`ll spend some more time on the field, naturally if the team needs me. Ricardo or Nikolic are here longer than I am but I don`t see them as a competition, it`s about team spirit and motivation. We work together and support each other in aim to play better. I`ll get to play alongside them when given the opportunity.

Next weekend, Partizan is away to Napredak after recent cup win there.

-We have to forget that win ever happened. This is going to be new game of football and far from easy away encounter. It will be much harder now especially after that recent cup result. But, if we enter the game in the right frame of mind, I believe we will win.

Prior to recent Napredak game, your roommate Pantic told you he`s gonna celebrate Ronaldo-style if he scores.

-We spoke about that goal afterwards. It was a brilliant strike. Pantic is great free-kick taker and he can do it again. I remember him scoring similar goals in the past. On the other hand, we have great set-piece takers in Tosic or Zakaric.

Do you follow exploits of your former club Ferencvaros?

-I do, but I only managed to watch two games. When I was with Ferencvaros I constantly watched Partizan play. I`m in touch with Ferencvaros players, they are doing well in their league. They achieved good point advantage on the top but they`ll find it hard in the cup as they lost last 8 first leg at home to Marko Nikolic`s Videoton.
