In a SSL round 15 game, Partizan won Vojvodina 2-0 with goals from Ricardo (`29) and Enache (`89). We spoke to Partizan forward Ricardo Gomes after the game:
– Very tough game for several reasons. First of all, we were under enormous pressure and we had great responsibility in front of our fans to win three points after several games drawn. On the other hand, as the game unfolded and opportunities were missed, you start thinking it might happen again. We were better side as many times before but when you miss your chances usually you get punished. I think God was on our side as it`s clear we really try hard all the time and this second goal took a big burden of us, now we know we can do it. It was like a vicious circle so far. We don`t lose games but only three points count here, said Ricardo.
After Jankovic was brought down in the box, you took penalty-kick responsibility and saw your shot saved initially but scored on a rebound.
– I was in the right place at the right time. Vojvodina have a great keeper and although I was really focused he made a save but dropped the ball and I was ready to pounce and thank God I scored. As a forward, It`s always important for me to score.
Partizan trails 13 points behind standings leaders.
-It`s a big margin but we have faith in ourselves. Just look at big clubs around Europe – they lose 4 or 5 games in a row. The beauty of football game is that big sides drop points too. We were unlucky to drop some and that must not happen and I hope this is the end of it. Season is long, more derbies are coming up and I believe others will have bad patches too, that`s reality.
Partizan is home to Radnik next Saturday.
– Nothing to talk about, only three points count. We`ll have a bit of rest on Monday, spend the day with our families trying to accumulate our energy and move on.
